onlyREDtrucks has been privileged to "shadow" the Recruits on their "journey" through The Academy as they learn what it takes to become a firefighter. The Academy includes 10 weeks of classroom and hands on training. On this page, you will find some of the video we have captured while following the Recruits through this training program.

"LIVE FIRE"
After the first few weeks of classroom, outside training and orientation, the recruits participate in a "Live Fire" scenario. What starts out as a car fire, spreads to the building; more "companies" are called in for additional manpower. Suddenly, the "fire" gets out of control and the firefighters are signaled to back out of the building. Conditions are too dangerous to fight the fire from inside, so they set up "master stream" hose lines and fight the fire from outside. Afterwards, they return to the classroom to review the events of the day.

"FAST CLASS"
After several weeks of classroom, training tower and field "practicals", the recruits combine all of their skills with the "Team" concept. Fast Class is eight tough days of intensive training in smoke filled environments, learning how to save themselves and others.
